Get your taste buds ready...
The Irish are famous around the world for many reasons, such as; poetry from some of the greats Yeats and Kavanagh. Our musicians and bands like U2, Sinead O’Connor, and Thin Lizzy. Sports stars like Roy Keane, Rory Mc Ilroy, and George Best. Actors Like Liam Neeson, Gabriel Byrne and Colin Farrell. The list is never-ending for the amount of talent we produce!
We can all agree, we’re a talented bunch, and that talent extends to our drink, and arguably our best short drink around the world is our Irish Whiskey.

There are many distillers of this golden nectar around the Country. The most famous of which, is Jameson located in the heart of the Capital. Their distillery is well visited by thirsty tourists, but one that is well outside the capitals boundaries in the lovely County of Offaly, is the equally delicious Tullamore Dew Distillery.

In the name “Tullamore Dew”, the D.E.W stand for ‘Daniel E. Williams’ who created this incredible whiskey when he acquired the distillery after working there all his life, starting as a stable boy. His Grandson, Desmond Williams inherited the distillery from his grandfather, and with the same grit and determination, created Ireland's first blended whiskey.
In September 2014, Tullamore Dew returned home, opening a new state of the art distillery in the town of Tullamore, Co. Offaly. The Visitors Centre is a wonderful Irish Whiskey experience.

The old warehouse sits on the Grand Canal where their produce began its journey to Dublin where it would then make its way around the world. On your tour, you will learn the process of creating a fine Irish Whiskey, and if you love the idea of Whiskey tasting, you will enjoy the craft of Whiskey tasting even more.
You can taste up to 6 different Whiskeys during your tour. Your guide will show you how to taste and smell the flavours of the whiskey. As part of the Master Class Tour, you can create a one of a kind whiskey, your own personal blend which you can take home with you.

If you are a little peckish after your tour and tasting, the Visitors Centre has a delightful restaurant called 'The Bond', where you can put your feet up and relax, or head over to the gift shop to bring some Whiskey home.
Price: The Curious Tasters Tour costs €12.50 - you will get to sample 3 whiskeys on this tour.
The Whiskey Wise Masterclass costs €23.20 - where you get a tutored tasting class of six Whiskey samples.
Finally, the Ultimate Distillery Experience costs €72 which lets you experience a behind the scenes tour of the distillery, a tutored tasting experience from the cask, and a blend your own Whiskey session where you get to take your own Whiskey blend home.
